Athlete of the Month of January 2026

Years at Five Forks Athletics: 2

It may not seem it to the community of FFA but it is a rare find to have all of that in one place

When did you start at Five Forks Athletics?

"We both started July of 2024 after retearning home from working overseas for 7 years."

What is your favorite workout?

Dan - Any workout with box jumps (or overs now lol)

Tracey - Back squats (when I can), Deadlifts, front squats, typically anything with KB. NOT the devil’s tricycle!!! Have a love hate relationship with burpees and wallballs!

What type of exercise were you doing before Five Forks Athletics?

Dan - Mostly weight strength training with running. 3 times a week overseas. Was geared to

pass PRT testing for my job.

Tracey - I have been working out since my 20’s with Olympic type lifting, not very consistent, because you know life was lifeing! Got exposed to CF in Boston and loved the community, thelayout of the workouts. When working overseas would follow CF workout on an app as well as just making up my own. I would for some reason inflict torture on myself lol so it’s not just Hudson trying to kill me!!

What are your health and fitness goals and have you achieved any of those goals, how’s it going so far?

Dan - Initially I just wanted to get back in the gym after coming home. Now that we have

been involved in the community my goals have become a bit more structured. I still am

working to be able to pass PRT test for deployment. But I think an overall better heathy

lifestyle. We both took Hudson’s diet class and learned a lot. My strength goals were

not really set that high, but I have noticed (especially the last few months) have gone

way up. I feel like I am improving, and my barbell makes a “thud” and not a “clink”

when I drop it now. I never would have thought barbell club was in my future but have

completed 2 and look forward to more.

Tracey - The goal has always to get more fit and stronger. Due to injuries, it has been a two-step forwards sometimes three steps backwards! Since joining FFA I have made more progress than I did prior to joining. Hudson was great with helping us/me understand nutrition and fighting the fork! Love his Instagram posts and the weekly pod cast! Need to concur my fear of heights with falling to be able to do proper pull ups!

Has Five Forks Athletics affected your life outside the gym?

Dan - The friendships I’ve made in class have gone beyond the mats and rig. We have become

good friends with quite a few and enjoy seeing them both in and out of the gym

Tracey - It has been one of our best decisions since returning state side by joining the gym. The coaches, other athletes are always so encouraging, supportive and kind. It may not seem it to the community of FFA but it is a rare find to have all of that in one place. For me moving from Boston and not knowing anyone except my husband and his family, I know of quite a few

people that I could call upon if I needed anything and they without even knowing me well,

would not hesitate to help with whatever was needed and I would do the same for them.

Do you have any other special memories or achievements during your time here?

Dan - I would say the biggest number one thing that stands out is the Jonathans willingness to

help set up Ally’s memorial WOD (now 2 down), and the amazing participation form the

community. I also got to meet interact and know many more of the community when I

helped Jonathan install the new mats. That was a week that I will remember and all the

different people that did not hesitate to jump in and help. AWESOME community.

From the coaches to the members, the new faces and the willingness from everyone to

help, encourage, make you feel as part of the community, the family. FFA is an amazing

place to be.

Tracey - When we first arrived at the gym to meet Jonathen for a tour, I remember Josh and RV guy (never remember his name!) were so friendly and welcoming. They had just completed the workout and did not hesitate to make us feel welcome. RV guy had his dog with him so that

didn’t hurt either!! I would say for a special memory was how quickly and without even a

moment of hesitation that Jonathen wanted to do whatever he could do to assist us with

continuing the memorial workout for my daughter in that initial meeting. Everyone has been so

supportive, and it has been greatly appreciated. I know I speak for both Dan and I that we will

always be available to assist with whatever is needed at the gym and to be an active part of the

community. For personal achievement’s would be becoming more outgoing, getting stronger

with being able to deadlift, power clean, and overhead press more than I have in the past. So

grateful to the community that you all have created.
