Athlete of the Month of May 2025
Years at Five Forks Athletics: 1

When did you start at Five Forks Athletics?
Jay - "March 2024"
Bre - "May 2024"
What is your favorite workout?
Jay - "Anything except thrusters." 😂
Bre - "Anything with pull-ups or the rig. I really like squat cleans for strength, or snatch or clean and jerks."
What type of exercise were you doing before Five Forks Athletics?
Jay - "I was just doing regular lifts at a gym and HIIT classes."
Bre - "I was doing workouts on Tonal at home."
What are your health and fitness goals and have you achieved any of those goals, how’s it going so far?
Jay - "My goals are pretty simple… I want to look like/be as fit as Doug Hunt when I’m in my 60’s and be able to climb a rope like Leslie Fricke. If I stay consistent I think I can do it."
Bre - "Honestly I joined because Jay was a part and wanted to come check it out. But once I got in there, I wanted to be able to do some of the movements like a pull up and BMUs and lift heavier. I fell in love with the hobby and have been coming 5 to 6 days a week since. I learned how to kip, (which was one of my first mile stones) and my pull ups have gotten much better since. My BMU are almost there. One of my goals is to dead lift 200 by end of 2025 and I’m at 175, also do RX+ consistently and I am probably at like 50ish percent doing RX+. I feel like I am on track to achieve my 2025 goals."
Has Five Forks Athletics affected your life outside the gym?
Jay - "Yes, we’ve now got our kids doing CrossFit consistently, plus we’ve met great people and built new friendships."
Bre - "Absolutely, there is something about mentally doing something hard even when you want to give up, but you don’t, it bleeds into every part of your life and you start winning in other areas."
Do you have any other special memories or achievements during your time here?
Jay - "A few come to mind…
1. When Yogi cheated in the in-house competition and got 1st place (while we got 2nd)
My first bar muscle up! (thanks Joel)
Forgetting how to do a bar muscle up and then learning again! (thanks Hudson)
And many others… in all seriousness, FFA has special people at it. From the coaches to the members. It’s a special place!"
Bre - "Lots of memories.
One of my first classes we did handstand holds and I went up for my first hand stand and fell straight on Ali, 😂 we’ve been friends ever since.
One memory was when I was getting use to Wodify and I logged my back squat as 275 lbs (I meant 75lbs 😂) and in the notes wrote “should have went higher.” I was wondering why people were liking my results that day haha
I have met some awesome new friends. It’s been so cool to see other people accomplishing their goals and how we are one big family cheering each other on."
